Winemaker Vangelis Gerovassiliou receives an honorary doctorate from the University of Macedonia

Winemaker Vangelis Gerovassiliou was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia, honoring a path that connects the Greek land with innovation in winemaking, entrepreneurship, social contribution and culture.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 5, at the Ceremonial Amphitheater of the University of Macedonia, in the presence of members of the academic community, collaborators, friends and representatives of the business and cultural world.

In his speech, entitled “From the Vineyard to the University: Fermentations of Knowledge, Experiences and Culture“, Vangelis Gerovassiliou said:

“This is an honor that fills me with joy, gratitude and responsibility, because I believe that it is attributed through me to an entire world that serves with dedication and selflessness the Greek land, the vineyard and the quality wine production in our country, with basic principles of ethics and consistency.
A title that goes beyond my personal journey and highlights something deeper: the close relationship between education and production.”

In conclusion, he emphasized the importance of knowledge and creation as common ground between the vineyard and the University:

“I hope that we all continue to cultivate — each in our own ecosystem — the knowledge, responsibility and joy of creation, which is the essence of culture.”

The President and the Board of Directors of the Greek-Indian Business Association congratulate Vangelis Gerovassiliou on his appointment as Honorary Doctor of the University of Macedonia, which constitutes a practical recognition of his long-standing and multidimensional contribution to Healthy Entrepreneurship and Culture that he served so consistently, long and meritoriously, making Macedonian winemaking known throughout the world.
