GIBA’s participation in the gala dinner for the arrival of the first INDIGO flight in Athens

On the occasion of IndiGo’s first direct flight from Mumbai to Athens, the Indian airline hosted an informal gala dinner for over 100 people from the tourism and airline sectors at the “Spilia tis Acropolis” tavern in Plaka, below the Acropolis.

Mr. Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, delivered a welcome speech thanking all the guests for their presence. In his remarks, he stated that Greece is an important destination for the airline and its plans for Athens to become a European hub through codeshares and collaboration with Aegean, other airlines and travel agencies. He surprised everyone by speaking fluent Greek.

Mr. Kaizod Pesi Postwalla, Head of Sales – International Markets, briefly presented the company’s plans to promote both inbound and outbound tourism between Greece and India.

The Greek Indian Business Association (GIBA) was represented by Antonis Papadopoulos, James (Demetris) P. Mimikos, Nikolaos A. Kotsalos and Jordan Karatzas.

A mix of Indian and Greek music with Dimitris Roumeliotis on the sitar and Tasos Giannousis on the bouzouki welcomed the guests who enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the tavern’s rich Greek cuisine.
